REPORT ON TEACHERS’ DAY CELEBRATION

St. George’s School, Alaknanda, celebrated Teachers’ Day with immense gaiety, reverence and élan on 5th September 2026, commemorating the birth anniversary of the illustrious philosopher, scholar and former President of India, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. The occasion was graced by Honourable Director Ma’am and Principal Ma’am, whose presence added dignity and warmth to the celebrations. The event was a heartfelt tribute to the teachers whose unwavering dedication, wisdom and affection illuminate the educational journey of every student.

The programme commenced on a solemn yet heartwarming note with a prayer and a soulful hymn by the school choir, creating an ambience of serenity and gratitude. This was followed by a gracious welcome address by Avni Pathak, President of the Student Council, who eloquently highlighted the indispensable role of teachers in shaping young minds and nurturing them into responsible individuals. The Thought for the Day, presented by Shane Thomas of Class 5 C, further enriched the occasion with a poignant reminder of the enduring values of learning, discipline and gratitude.

Adding an intellectual dimension to the proceedings, Tripti Arora of Class 9 E presented an insightful article on the profound influence of teachers. She aptly brought out how educators transcend the boundaries of textbooks and classrooms to nurture character, confidence, aspirations and dreams.

The cultural extravaganza that followed was a splendid tapestry of talent, tradition and creativity. The school band, comprising talented musicians from Classes 7 to 12, then enthralled the gathering with a melodious and harmonious performance, filling the venue with vibrant energy and earning resounding appreciation. A graceful classical dance by students of Classes 9 to 11 celebrated India’s rich artistic heritage, while the energetic Western Dance Performance by students of Classes 10 and 11 infused the atmosphere with exuberance. The Fashion Show, The Colours of India, presented by students of Classes 11 and 12, beautifully showcased the country’s cultural kaleidoscope through colourful regional costumes and imaginative presentations. The vibrant Haryanvi and elegant South Indian dance performances further added diversity and splendour to the programme.

The Punjabi Bhangra, presented by students from Classes 2 to 12, proved to be the piece de resistance of the celebration. Its infectious rhythm, exuberant movements and unbridled enthusiasm swept through the audience, evoking spontaneous applause, cheers and smiles. The performance transformed the venue into a vibrant celebration of youthful energy and joie de vivre.

The cultural presentations were followed by an inspiring address by the Principal. She urged students to cultivate greater respect, gratitude and appreciation for their teachers, reminding them that teachers assume the role of parents within the school. She poignantly acknowledged their selfless dedication, affection and constant care, emphasising that teachers do not merely impart knowledge but also guide, nurture, encourage and support their students with genuine concern and love.

The memorable celebration drew to a graceful close with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Adarsh Gupta, the Head Boy of the Student Council. The entire gathering then stood in solemn respect for the National Anthem. The occasion left an indelible impression on everyone present and served as a fitting homage to the school’s devoted educators, reaffirming the timeless bond of respect, gratitude and affection between teachers and students.
