GEORGE’S SCHOOL BOOK FAIR SPARKS READING PASSION
To foster a reading habit among students, St. George’s School, Alaknanda, organized a vibrant four-day book fair from May 6 to 9, 2026, on the school premises. Inaugurated by Honourable Director Ma’am, Dr Sara George and Esteemed Principal Ma’am, Ms Anjali Massey, the event buzzed with excitement.
Books, timeless companions to learning, have enriched generations with knowledge and wisdom. Cultivating this habit early builds children’s vocabulary, imagination, and self-study skills, which are essential for lifelong growth.
Held in collaboration with Scholastic Publications India, the fair showcased a diverse collection including fairy tales, moral stories, activity books, science content, biographies, fiction, and interactive storybooks. The Scholastic internship program featured ten interns trained online by Scholastic India to gain a thorough understanding of organizing book fairs. These interns enthusiastically explained the different kinds of books and guided teachers, students, parents, and all attendees through age-appropriate selections.
Students visited class-wise, accompanied by teachers who helped them choose suitable reads. A thrilling “book hunt” activity, led by the Scholastic team, had children eagerly searching for hidden treasures and earning small gifts as rewards.
The fair opened to parents and visitors during the Parent-Teacher Meeting, drawing large crowds. It proved a resounding success, with everyone cherishing the experience. The event concluded on a high note with a lucky draw, where winners received exciting prizes.
