REPORT: SENIOR SCHOOL ATHLETIC MEET
St. George’s School, Alaknanda held the Senior School Athletic Meet for the students of classes 6-8 and 9&11 on 12th December 2025. It was celebrated with great enthusiasm and high spirits on the school campus. The event was graced by Honourable Director Dr. Sara George Ma’am, and Respected Principal, Ms. Anjali Massey Ma’am. Embracing the ethos of sportsmanship, students eagerly and enthusiastically participated in the athletic meet with unwavering vigour and energy.
The event commenced with a drill performance by the students, which set an energetic and disciplined tone for the day. The drill showcased remarkable coordination, stamina, and teamwork, including skating, basketball drills, yoga formations, and several other well-rehearsed activities that reflected the students’ dedication and rigorous practice.
Before the formal commencement of the program, the gathering was addressed by the Principal. In her address, she extended a warm and respectful welcome to the Honourable Director Ma’am, the teachers, and all the students. She highly appreciated the drill performance and applauded the students for their precision, discipline, and enthusiasm. Emphasizing the importance of sports and athletics in holistic development, she highlighted how participation in sports builds character, promotes physical fitness, and instils values such as teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship. The Principal motivated the students to give their best in all events and reminded them that participation is more important than winning. She encouraged them to enjoy the spirit of healthy competition and to learn valuable life lessons through sports. Concluding her address, she expressed her optimism and looked forward to a successful and memorable Sports Day, wishing all participants the very best.
Subsequently, she declared the Athletic meet open by flagging off the first race of the day.
The Athletic Meet is a much-awaited event the year round, as students avail the opportunity to engage in their chosen event. Events like 100 metre, 200 metre, 400 metre race, 800 metre race and relay race for boys and girls were organized. When the athletic events started, the budding athletes of St. George’s School ran for the finishing line. Participants were seen cheering their teammates, spurring them to give their best on the tracks. The school campus reverberated with their enthusiastic cheers. The event proceeded smoothly, reflecting excellent planning and coordination, and created an atmosphere of excitement, encouragement, and unity among students. In the end, students expressed gratitude to the participants and the dignitaries for their presence.
