REPORT ON THE CELEBRATION OF ST GEORGE’S DAY
St. George’s School celebrated the auspicious occasion of St. George’s Day on April 23, 2026, in a vibrant display of reverence. The presence of Honourable Director Dr. Sara George and esteemed Principal Ms. Anjali Massey elevated the event especially.
The assembly commenced with a school prayer and Bible reading. This was followed by the Head Boy’s leadership in taking the School Pledge that was recited in unison by students as they echoed their commitment to the institution. A student then delivered an engaging talk, tracing St. George’s journey from a Roman soldier to a legendary martyr, emphasizing his unyielding faith and heroism.
The choir’s melodious performance of the school anthem, “We, the Students of St. George’s School,” filled the auditorium with pride and vigour. The lyrics stirred every heart, reminding students to pursue excellence, and live as true Georgeans. The highlight was the play honouring Patron Saint St. George. The vivid enactment portrayed his legendary battle with the dragon, symbolizing triumph over evil, alongside scenes of his compassion and sacrifice. The audience erupted in applause, inspired by the saint’s timeless virtues.
Esteemed Principal Ma’am then addressed the assembly with eloquence and passion. “Like St. George, who rose above orphanhood to serve selflessly, let us believe in God, confront our dragons of disobedience and temptation with courage, and forge characters that light others’ paths,” she urged. She stressed making the most of school life by respecting elders, teachers, and society to bring glory to St. George’s School. She called for sharing knowledge generously, noting, “People like St. George are rare gems of good character; be such gems yourselves.” This celebration ignited a renewed sense of purpose among students and the community, promising a brighter future aligned with St. George’s enduring legacy.
True to its ethos, St. George’s school also extended its celebrations by gifting school bags to 200 underprivileged children on April 22, 2026, a noble tradition emphasizing social responsibility. Each kit, curated with care, contained six notebooks, a lunch box, a water bottle, and a pencil set, all designed to ignite a passion for education. Conducted in Hindi, the outreach featured the play on St. George, the choir’s school song, and Principal Ma’am’s warm words: “Education is your shield and sword, wield it bravely.” The children’s beaming faces and grateful cheers concluded the ceremony on an uplifting note.
