WORKSHOP ON ELLIE – THE AI ELEPHANT
A SESSION BY PETA INDIA AND GO SHARPENER
St. George’s School, in association with Go Sharpener, organized a special interactive session on 9th April 2026 during school hours for classes Pre-School to VIII. The workshop was conducted at Paul George School. The occasion was graced by Honourable Director Ma’am and Respected Principal Ma’am. The highlight of the programme was the visit of Ellie, a life-size animatronic elephant (6 feet high, 4.5 feet wide, and 7.5 feet long), designed to create awareness about animal welfare and environmental responsibility among students. It is part of an initiative supported by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), one of the world’s largest animal rights organizations. The programme aimed to sensitize young minds towards kindness, compassion, and respect for animals.
During the session, Ellie, supported by a voiceover by actress Dia Mirza, shared a touching and emotional story about her life and students could understand the pain, loneliness, and challenges animals face when removed from their natural habitats and used for entertainment purposes such as circuses and rides.
The session was conducted interactively by the resource person, Ms. Meenal, who engaged students through thought-provoking questions and discussions. The children participated enthusiastically, sharing their thoughts and responses, which made the session lively and meaningful.
The session helped in the development of:
● Empathy and compassion for animals
● Environmental awareness
● Listening and communication skills
● Confidence in speaking and participation
● Moral values such as kindness and responsibility
The session was both enjoyable and educational. It left a lasting impression on the students and inspired them to become more sensitive towards animals and nature. The programme successfully reinforced the important message: “Be kind to animals.”
